Tesla – SolarCity Merger Threatens Investor Holdings

Investors should be wary of safety issues in the Model S line which threaten profitability. Recent news reports indicate that the Tesla Model S cars have potentially life-threatening design issues. Recently, Tesla was forced to recall certain Model S vehicles manufactured between May 31, 2012 and November 12, 2015 when it was discovered that certain vehicles were equipped with driver or front passenger seat belts that may have been improperly connected. Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) has requested the Departments of Justice, State, Homeland Security and Labor investigate visas issued to foreign workers hired by a Tesla sub-contractor to build a Tesla factory in Fremont, California. Reportedly, workers were brought to the U.S. on B1 – B2 visas, which explicitly ban any type of construction work and were paid as little as $5 an hour to build a paint shop at the Tesla factory, which violates the $55 an hour prevailing wage laws for sheet metal workers in the region.
